'Stone Cottage', located in Château Saint Victor la Coste

A stone castle in the South of France was Airbnb's most-liked property on Instagram in 2020. More than 76,000 users liked the picture last year. The house is one of three accommodations at Chateau Saint-Victor-la-Coste – a 16th century castle. The whole Chateau is available to book in its entirety including the cottages sleeping a maximum of 18 people in 10 bedrooms with 9 bathrooms.

Chateau St Victor la Coste is magical. It is completely unique. It is a private home decorated artistically yet flamboyantly, with an eclectic style not remotely like a hotel or other such venue. It is genuinely wonderful and very special. It is in a village untouched by tourism, sleepy and beautiful. Surrounded by Cote du Rhone vineyards and forests, this is a world away from the excess or glitz of the Cote d'Azur and is definitely for the more discerning Francophile, looking for a south of France long remembered and not often found. It is situated on the border of Provence and Languedoc with balmy temperatures extending the season and wonderful local produce for gourmandes!

Local wines include Châteauneuf des Papes, Gigondas, Lirac and Tavel. This is a property for the connoisseur, the aesthete, and those wanting peace and tranquility yet also part of a charming small village with amenities to hand. It comes fully equipped with all modern comfort, high thread count Egyptian bedding, fully functional and well equipped kitchens and fabulously comfortable beds but also intriguing gardens, with old deliciously scented roses, plumbago, hortensia, and jasmine leading to the old Castellas, and surrounding a very beautiful stone pool (6m x 15m) with columns and statues.

The Chateau is situated in the old village of St Victor la Coste which is equidistant between Avignon in Provence and the charming market town of Uzes in Languedoc. The countryside is oak forests and small country lanes so very popular with cyclists and walkers. Add charming french markets, food and antiques , art and cultural pursuits , kayaking at Pont du Gard and it really is the most perfect place to holiday for the whole family.

They have cottages which sleep either 2 or 4 people but at any one time there is a maximum of 10 people in the cottages and suite keeping it peaceful and exclusive. They are not a hotel and do not serve breakfast though a very well equipped and spacious kitchen is available for your use and each cottage and the suite have their own table and chairs outside . There is also a communal salon with comfy sofas , television and indoor dining table for cooler days. One catch: there is no WiFi on site. If you are ever in the south of France, you should definitely make a detour to Provence.
